Lura’s Curb Profiler Makes Efficient Work of Any Curbed Pour

There’s no reason to waste time and effort striking off the work area, letting the concrete set, and then returning to finish the job. The Lura Curb Profiler completes the entire job at once — no matter the size or style of curb — saving time and money.

Six steel profiles on the Lura system, which pairs with the Mako screed support system, measure .25 inch wide and 2.5 inches deep. They hang at the string line, from 24 to 30 inches outside of both the form and the Mako screed support system. With the form stakes spaced 5 feet apart, and the outside form at curb height, it’s time to begin. There’s no reason to place an inside form. The Lura Curb Profiler is simply placed on every other Mako screed yoke, about 10 feet apart. Using this basic placement puts six to 10 curb areas in line for the concrete pour at all times.

Bring in the mix truck, and pour 20 feet of mud at the curb location. This first part of the pour will be the stiffest on the truck. More water can be added to achieve the desired slump for the rest of the project after this initial pour.

With the 20 feet of stiff mix down, the curb is simply emplaced by pulling the mud up the Curb Profiler perpendicular to the strike off. Once the first curb section is complete, just pull the profile and move on to the seventh curb section — the next in the lineup — with the Mako yoke, and keep on working. Hundreds of feet of curb can be poured quickly, with the Lightning Screed handling the bulk of the work.

Even radius pours can be accomplished easily with the same technique. Just place the Mako rebar yoke system to the desired height at about 2 feet apart along the radius. Using the six steel profiles on the system, a radius pour will be done quickly and require little hand shaping.
